Během opakovaného zrychlování a zpomalování není systém řízení emisí v řídicí jednotce dieselového motoru (ECU) schopen zabránit akumulaci síry uvnitř katalyzátoru. Nedostatečná robustnost softwaru pro řízení motoru snižuje čisticí výkon oxidů dusíku (NOx) a proto motor nesplňuje regulační požadavek na úroveň emisí.
